Nine friends — an airline pilot, an engineer, a teacher, and others — started Stauning in a converted slaughterhouse. They floor-malt their own barley and rye, an incredibly labour-intensive process that only a handful of distilleries worldwide still practice.

The Stauning Style

Smoky, complex Danish whisky from floor-malted grain. Direct-fire stills add depth, while coastal aging contributes a maritime edge. Both peated and rye expressions are exceptional.
