Stauning
Denmark's Most Ambitious Whisky
Nine friends — an airline pilot, an engineer, a teacher, and others — started Stauning in a converted slaughterhouse. They floor-malt their own barley and rye, an incredibly labour-intensive process that only a handful of distilleries worldwide still practice.
The Story
Founded 2006
The Stauning Style
Smoky, complex Danish whisky from floor-malted grain. Direct-fire stills add depth, while coastal aging contributes a maritime edge. Both peated and rye expressions are exceptional.
Signature Notes
Stauning Smoke
Danish peated whisky — floor-malted barley smoked with local heather. Scandinavia's answer to Islay.
