Old Pulteney distillery in Highland, Scotland
Highland, Scotland

Old Pulteney

The Maritime Malt

Wick was a thriving herring port in the 19th century, and the distillery was built to serve the fishermen. The town was so dependent on alcohol that it was declared a dry town in 1922 — the distillery had to ship its whisky out by boat. The salty, maritime character remains its defining feature.
