Mortlach

The Beast of Dufftown

Founded in 1823, Mortlach was the first distillery in Dufftown — a town that would eventually house seven distilleries. The unique partial triple distillation system evolved organically over time as stills were added without removing old ones.

The result is a complex flow of spirit through six stills in a way that creates multiple distillation paths — some spirit is distilled 2.5 times, some 2.8 times. It's wonderfully eccentric and produces a spirit of unmatched depth.
