Nikka (Miyagikyo)
Nikka's Elegant Second Voice
Taketsuru spent years searching for the perfect second location before choosing the confluence of the Nikkawa and Hirose rivers in Miyagi. The softer water and milder climate produce a lighter style than Yoichi.
Miyagikyo also operates a Coffey grain still, producing Nikka's acclaimed Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt whiskies. The distillery is a complete whisky-making ecosystem.
The Story
Founded 1969
The Miyagikyo Style
Fruity, floral, and elegant. Steam-heated stills produce a lighter spirit than Yoichi, while sherry and wine casks add sweetness and complexity.
Signature Notes
Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt
Elegant Japanese single malt — fruity, floral, and the perfect counterpoint to Yoichi's boldness.
